Stanley had seven previous trips to various drug rehab programs. His decision to actively work with his sponsor transformed his life. Today, Stanley has a stable job, is happily married, reunited with his four children and recently purchased a home.

Stanley dreamed of living in a home in the country one day where he could see the stars come out each night. After spending 32 years in and out of drug and alcohol rehabilitation, Stanley made a life-altering decision. Back in February 2008, he humbled himself to ask another man to serve as his sponsor. When he let go of his reservations and “totally surrendered,” Stanley said, “I began to work a program of recovery, grew closer to God and marveled at how God took away the urge to use drugs and alcohol.”

The Firehouse Shelter and staff were ready for Stanley. He had seven previous trips to various drug rehab programs. This time around, though, his decision to actively work with his sponsor transformed his life. Today, Stanley has a stable job as a driver for P.T.I., is happily married, reunited with his four children, and recently purchased a home.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be celebrating five years clean and sober or be living out here in Odenville in my dream home!”
