Recovery Stories

A methadone addiction almost killed Johnna. She is now in recovery through help from Alabama Teen Challenge. Read her story today.

My methadone addiction almost killed me. I thought I’d never live a normal life ever again. I thought I would never be able to be a good mom, wife, or daughter. In fact, I thought they would be better off if I was dead, but God showed me that He had a different plan and purpose for my life – to follow Him.

My life once revolved around my next dose, but now my life revolves around Jesus. He has restored my marriage, the relationships with my children, and my parents. I now have a personal relationship with Jesus. I can talk to Him about anything. Before my feet hit the floor I thank Him for saving me and for the testimony He has given me. I thank Him for not letting me die in my sin, but to live to tell others what He has done in my life. I’m so thankful that He valued my life more than I did. As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
