Recovery Stories

My name is Ashley T. and I wanted to express my gratitude for the Aletheia House. I left Memphis, Tennessee homeless, without my family, and children. My addiction took everything I ever had and left me stranded at the bus station. When I arrived in Birmingham almost seven months ago broken, lost, and desperate to fix my life. I refused to let my addiction take over anymore. I was a pregnant mother addicted to IV opiate medications. As a Christian I prayed for a new life and a second chance. Well, I received much more than I asked for! The Lord placed me in the prescence of some of the most amazing women. I made a decision that I didn’t want to loose my life or continue down this path. My heart was changed and I began to live my life again. I was clean and sober attending a NA meeting. It was then that I began to gain respect from others, my family, and my new baby girl Hailey. I was content with the new me and began to work out my differences with distant family members. This program gave me a new perspective on life. I am thankful, happy, and blessed to be seven months clean! This disease of addiction will take your life if you let it…It’s your choice!
