Volunteer Opportunities

The Working Group

The APC Working Group is a group of engaged community volunteers that plan and implement local drug prevention campaigns. These campaigns will focus on preventing medication abuse and marijuana use. We need voices from multiple areas of the community and with different backgrounds and experiences. This group began in April 2014 and continues to grow. If you are passionate about drug prevention and ways to make positive changes in the community, this is a great opportunity for you. Please contact carie@apcbham.org or mike@apcbham.org for more information.

#APCCodeRED Team

This is our new social media campaign. The #APCCodeRED Team is on the front lines of raising awareness about addiction and the urgent need for treatment and prevention. They like and share our Facebook page, develop followers on Twitter and Instagram and share information with their connections. This is an easy way to help spread the word about the state of emergency that Alabama faces with substance use. Please contact Danny Molloy for more information at danny@apcbham.org

Youth Opportunities

These are great opportunities to connect with our youth Addiction Prevention Chapters. Both of these roles require background checks.
  • Youth Chapter Meetings: APC currently has youth leadership chapters in several high schools. The volunteer role would be to join our Prevention Coordinator in facilitating the meetings by helping set up, joining the conversation, etc. This is a one year commitment. Please contact Angela Dollison for more information at angela@apcbham.org.
  • Youth Service Projects: APC has youth service projects around the Birmingham area four times per year. These are usually at treatment providers or other organizations around the community. The volunteer role would be to participate in the service project while connecting with the youth. Please contact Angela Dollison for more information at angela@apcbham.org

Other Opportunities

We also have other volunteer opportunities including:
  • Administrative office opportunities
  • Community service events
  • Health fairs
If you are interested in these other opportunities, please contact carie@apcbham.org or mike@apcbham.org
